Wednesday night, we went to find a gig, but couldn’t find it…however, when crossing the river I noticed these brick lines.
Phil informed me they are markers, of where the wall used to be…very sobering reminders.
The next night, after a day of research, we went to Neuköln (the venue called “Gelegenheiten”) to see Jürg Bariletti have the premier performance of his new Klangkoffer.
Jürg Bariletti and the mobile Klangkoffer. The box (seen in closeups here) attaches to the bicycle for riding to the gig. Beautiful music.
Guitarist, Mattias on Trombone (names?)
Friday was a moving day. We left the punk rock digs in Kreuzberg (sublet via a student website, very reasonably priced, a week costs the same as one night in a hotel). Below is a picture of my room. Decorative notes: Catholic icons, punk posters, leopard print sheets, tulip chandelier. Lava lamp. And Smith and Wesson 45 auto….(!)
We moved to a lovely apartment in Bundesplatz, sublet from a retired lawyer/law professor friend of Phil’s. It is great, a lovely town, not anywhere near the activity level of Kreuzberg, but nice pubs coffee houses and a gourmet vegan restaurant, La Mano Verde, a few blocks away that I will definitely try. In the meantime, it is nice to have a fully functioning, well-equipped kitchen…
