I had the pleasure of hearing several gigs at of all places, Berlin Hauptbahnhof. Wednesday was a lovely piece by Sid Corbett for piano and multi-channel electronic playback. For many of the performances meshing with the environment has been difficult, trying to blend in by matching sounds (imitating trains) or contrasting and conflicting too much. Sid’s piece was stunning in both it’s sound and the way it would “sit” in the station and not fight, but beautifully mingle…
